Dehradun

Day 1: Dehradun

Arrival, Hotel Transfer, and Briefing of Yatra

The beginning and end of the Chardham journey by helicopter starts from Dehradun. On your arrival at Dehradun airport or train station, you are picked up by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The journey from the Dehradun airport to the Dehradun hotel takes almost 1 hour. A night stay is provided to you at the Dehradun Hotel along with dinner.

For beginning the Char Dham journey on the next day, it is suggested that the pilgrims should reach by 4:00 pm at Dehradun so that you can prepare yourself for this divine journey and in the early morning it can start on time. In the evening, our team provides you with important information about the Yatra and gives duffel bags in which you can carry essential things up to 5 kgs of luggage per person as suitcases, trolly, and heavy bags are not allowed in the helicopter because of weight limitations. Also, our team shares the next day’s flying slot so that you can be ready by that time.

Along with this, passengers are provided with important contact numbers of our crew members available at each Dham who assist you in your Chardham Yatra.

Yamunotri Dham

Day 2: Yamunotri Dham

Dehradun Helipad to Kharsali Helipad
In the morning check out from the hotel and you will be picked up by our crew to proceed towards the Dehradun Sahastradhara Helipad. Here you are welcomed there by our ground staff who provide you with the pre-flight briefing in the waiting lounge and then you will board the aircraft. Once you reach the Kharsali meet our crew at the helipad and you will be transferred to the hotel. After that, your journey of Yamunotri Dham darshan starts. The trek of Yamunotri is 6 km and is covered by palki or pony, whichever is present at the site. On reaching do the VIP darshan of Yamunotri Temple. Later you can go sightseeing of the Hot spring near the Yamunotri Temple. Return back to Kharsali and the day ends with an overnight stay and dinner at the hotel.
Gangotri Dham

Day 3: Gangotri Dham

On the third day, after checking out from the hotel in the morning, you will be transferred to Kharsali Helipad to fly to Harsil Helipad for Gangotri Dham. Harsil is the second Dham of the Chardham Yatra, considered one of the most beautiful and scenic places. This place is also popular for its extensive apple trees. Upon arrival at Harsil helipad our crew welcomes you there and takes you to check in the hotel. After reaching the hotel, you will be provided with breakfast, and later on, we will move towards Gangotri Dham for darshan. The distance of Gangotri Dham is around 20 km which is covered by car in 45 minutes. After the Gangotri darshan, return back to Harsil and you can go for nature walks of nearby places. Overnight stay at a hotel and dinner.
Kedarnath Dham

Day 4: Kedarnath Dham

Morning check-out from the hotel and you are transferred to the Harsil helipad to fly towards any of these helipads near Kedarnath Dham i.e. the Sersi / Guptkashi / Phata. After reaching there, take a 7-minute shuttle service to Kedarnath Ji Shrine. From the Kedarnath helipad, the temple is around 500 meters away which is covered 10 minutes by walk. After the Kedarnath darshan, the shuttle services take you back to the same helipad from where you fly. In the evening you are taken back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Badrinath Dham

Day 5: Badrinath Dham

On the fifth day after breakfast in the hotel, you and our ground staff move towards the Guptkashi helipad to reach Badrinath Dham. After having lunch in the hotel by car you are taken to the Badrinath darshan. After completing the darshan go for sightseeing in the Mana village also popular as the “Last village of India” situated near the India-China border. After sightseeing, you travel back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Dehradun

On the last day of the trip after having breakfast in the hotel the passengers move toward the Badrinath helipad to return to Dehradun. On arrival at the Dehradun Sahastradhara helipad, you are welcomed by the ground staff and dropped at the hotel to collect your luggage from the clock rooms, from there our crew drops you at the Dehradun airport or railway station.

  • Apart from the 5-night and 6-day stays, staying an extra night in Dehradun is excluded from the tour package.
  • In case of bad weather or any other circumstances buffer day expense is not included.

Payment Policy for Chardham Yatra by Helicopter

Booking Procedure, Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • Please share your Exact Body Weight (should be measured by wearing shoes, and carrying a wallet/bag/phone) so we can select appropriate charter seats for you. A helicopter can carry up to 450 kg. Body weight of all six passengers. The average body weight will be 75 kg. per person. If your weight is more than 75 kg, then contact our team which will assist you further in this regard. Your body weight will be measured before commencing the Yatra. Companies have full rights to de-board a passenger in case the actual body weight exceeds the weight given by passengers. Kindly don’t share any assumed body weight.
  • AADHAR Card copies are to be shared with us by all Indian passengers & passport copies in case of foreign nationals.
  • Provide us with your flight arrival and departure details.
  • After getting the seat confirmation from us, you need to deposit 50% Advance Amount to guarantee the tour, and the rest of the 50% Balance Amount you need to deposit 21 days before your Yatra date. Passengers will not be permitted to board or commence the tour unless full & final payment for the tour has been made.
  • Vaayu Aviation reserves the right to cancel passengers, who are unruly, abusive, intoxicated, sick, mentally unfit, or anyone else whom we deem to be unsafe to fly. No refund shall be done to such passenger(s).
  • There is no provision of concession to children or senior citizens for helicopter yatra.
  • In case the journey is not finished within the given time and passengers would not be able to Dham due to bad weather conditions/technical reasons. In this scenario company will still try to visit all Dham by extending the timeframe. The company will do all the Dhams on the next day if the weather condition remains poor the whole day and so on. We recommend you book your return flight one day or two days later. The company will not bear any cancellation of flights at any cost. Any Extra Night halt due to bad weather or any circumstances will be borne by the customers only.
  • *In case for 02 straight days flying does not take place due to bad weather, Yatra will be called off and a full refund minus 20% (management fees) as per our policies will be made to the passengers. For extra days of accommodation, Yatri has to pay the charges directly at the hotel.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

If passengers cancel their booking prior to or after the commencement of the tour, the following cancellation charges will be applicable:

  • Cancellation Before 45 Days prior to the Yatra date – 25% of the total tour cost will be charged as retention
  • Cancellation Between 45-30 Days prior to the Yatra date – 50% of the Total tour Cost will be charged as retention
  • Cancellation Between 30-0 Days before Yatra date – No Refund, 100% amount will be charged as retention
  • Cancellation due to Covid: No Refund will be provided (100% amount will be forfeited)
  • No Show – No Refund will be provided
  • COVID-19 Case, or any National/State Emergency: In case passengers test COVID positive before the travel, or the Yatra gets called off by the government, or any National or State emergency is imposed and the Yatra gets canceled, there will be NO REFUNDS POLICY applicable.

Force Majeure and Bad Weather Refunds

Basis of Refund

  • Tour Cost: 25% of the total tour cost for each unutilized travel sector (Dham), minus INR 25,000 per person toward the flight preparation & ground arrangement charges.
  • Additional Services: Deduction of any additional services provided at any of the Dhams during the tour of the passengers will be deducted over & above the refundable Tour Cost.
  • Refunds against any unutilized service will not be calculated separately and added to the refundable amount.
  • If flying is not possible due to bad weather at Dehradun, then 20% will be deducted and the balance will be refunded to the guest.

Bad Weather and Force Majeure Policies

  • Where bad weather, technical snags, or any force majeure reason beyond Vaayu Aviation Services’ control results in the cancellation of your flight being delayed or canceled, Vaayu Aviation will not be liable in any way for the canceled or delayed flight. However, a refund will be given to clients as per our refund policy. Any kind of inconvenience caused because of the cancellation of flights is beyond the control of the operator. No compensation or reimbursement for accommodation, transportation, meals, or any other extra travel expenses done by the passengers shall be offered in the event of cancellation of a flight.
  • In case the tour departure does not take place from Dehradun on Day One due to the above reasons, the tour will be considered canceled and a full refund minus 20%, will be refunded immediately as per our policies will be made.
  • In case the tour departs from Dehradun as per schedule but gets disrupted, while the tour is ongoing, our team will propose the possible revised itinerary within the scheduled package days, but without any extension of days.
  • Any extension, proposed by the passengers, in the package will only be considered at an extra cost and subject to operational availability.
  • New Chardham passenger(s) scheduled for departure from Dehradun on any respective travel date shall be our top priority, over the back-log passenger(s) of previous days(s).
  • Additional night halt charges will be payable by the passengers to hotels on a direct payment basis when they get stuck for additional nights due to bad weather/force majeure reasons.
  • If any passenger(s) requires ferry flights to be operated for them in an emergency, the cost for the same will be charged to the party @ INR 155,000/hr plus GST.
  • While the tour is ongoing, if any group demands to cancel their tour mid-way, the arrangement of transportation will be done by Vaayu Aviation, however, the cost for the same will be borne by the passengers on a direct payment basis.
  • Any increase in government levies or taxes or special Darshan or Palki after the confirmation of booking will be extra chargeable to the passengers. Payment against the same will have to be made before the commencement of the tour.

 

VIP Darshans at all Dhams are discontinued as per the instructions of Uttarakhand Govt* we will try to cover your VIP Dhams through our handlers there and might be on one or two Dhams you need to pay 1500-2000/- per person for darshan.

Health Advisory

All temples in Chardham are located in high-altitude areas. Passengers having asthma problems should not undertake this Yatra. Vaayu Aviation will not be liable for any medical emergency on the ground to the passengers. Therefore, in your own interest, passengers are hereby advised to kindly consult a doctor and get a medical check-up done before commencing the yatra. A medical check-up is mainly required if a passenger has any medical ailment or condition. Pilgrims are also advised to carry a small oxygen bottle with them as a precaution. It is available at medical shops.

Do’s and Don’ts at High Altitude

Do’s

  • Instead of trekking take horses/palkis to avoid sickness at high altitudes.
  • When tired, catch your breath by taking short breaks.
  • Any symptoms such as headache, vomiting, extreme tiredness, nausea, or loss of appetite should not be avoided.
  • In Chardham Yatra wearing a saree is not a comfortable option. Instead of this tracksuit, a salwar suit, or pant-shirt is recommended. Along with this, ladies who are 6 weeks pregnant should not do the Chardham Yatra.
  • In a waterproof bag carry spare clothes and eatables.
  • For emergencies keep your identity card and contact details in your pockets.
To protect your face and hands from sunburn, etc. one should carry Vaseline/cold cream/ sunscreen.

Don’t

  • When going out of breath don’t exert yourself.
  • Places that are marked danger, don’t stop there.
  • In the yatra don’t wear slippers instead wear sports/trekking shoes.
  • Don’t go for shortcuts as it can be dangerous.
Alone trekking is not safe in Yatra as sometimes mobile networks stop working so always be in a group.

To make your Chardham journey comfortable it is suggested that you should carry light-woolen clothes, a first-aid kit, a raincoat, cash, lightweight sports shoes, and a pair of slippers. Along with it carry photo identity proof such as an Aadhar Card or Passport.

In all four Chardham temples, VIP darshans are included. However, the tour does not involve any special pooja like Rudra Abhishek and Maha Abhishek Puja, this can be arranged at the request of passengers, and for these extra payments are made.

Pure vegetarian food is served to pilgrims in the Chardham Yatra. You can also request food without garlic and onion at all the hotels. In our proposed Chardham package three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) in each Dham are provided. Only in the Dehradun Hotel dinner and next-day breakfast is served.

In remote locations luxury hotels are not available so please don’t keep high expectations but we offer quality hotels with the best accommodation services and good food.

Apart from the Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham, Kedarnath, and Badrinath Dham are located within walking distance of the helipad. The trek of Yamunotri is 6 km which is covered by Pony or palki whichever is available at the location and the Gangorti Dham is 22 km which is covered in 45 minutes drive by car.

Children who are below the age of 2 years are free from the tour charges and for those 2 years or above full charges will be applicable. This kid’s age will be verified with valid identity proof like a birth certificate and Aadhar.

Every year the Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham is opened on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya and the opening date of Kedarnath is announced on Mahashivraatri and Badrinath date on Basant Panchmi.

Terms and Conditions

  • Fixed flight timings: This is a Daily Fixed Departure Helicopter tour, and all departure timings of each destination are fixed. Therefore, passengers must ensure they report as per the scheduled ETDs on each day of the tour, otherwise, they will be considered NO-SHOW.
  • COVID travel guidelines: COVID protocols shall be adhered to by the passengers and Vaayu Aviation as per the effective mandate of the government. Without adhering to government guidelines, boarding can be denied to the passengers without a refund.
  • Helicopter weight limitations: We run multiple Helicopters flying on the same day for the Chardham Yatra by helicopter and they have different timings, itineraries, and hotels used during the Yatra. We may adjust passengers according to their body weight. The maximum weight capacity of the helicopter is up to 450 kg (excluding baggage weight). Passengers are taken on board depending on the load and temperature conditions. The pilot’s call will be final. The total weight of all passengers on board must be within this limit. Hence, passengers are required to provide us with their exact weights at the time of booking.
  • Passenger weights: Passengers have to submit their correct weights at the time of booking. If any weight change is found at the time of their travel from the submitted weights, which would exceed our aircraft’s weight carrying capacity of 450 kg, passenger(s) would be de-boarded & canceled for the Helicopter tour without any refund. We recommend telling us the exact body weight by measuring the weight on the correct weighing scale by putting shoes on, carrying a wallet or bag, and a mobile phone. We operate several helicopters for the Chardham Yatra each day, passenger seating may be adjusted in different helicopters based on individual body weight resulting in flight time variation.
  • Over-weight charges: On per seat only- Overweight charges for Chardham helicopter are applicable @ INR 2100/kg. This will be chargeable to passengers weighing above 75 kg. Furthermore, any discrepancy found in the weights of the passengers, which would be chargeable as per the overweight criteria, the same would be collected before boarding of flights.
  • Baggage Allowance: Only one baggage (duffel bag) weighing a maximum of 2kgs to 5Kgs is allowed per passenger. It is not permitted to carry suitcases or any other luggage bags in the helicopter. Therefore, duffle bags are provided by our staff to all passengers on the day of arrival. Therefore, we discourage bringing too much luggage. In case, if you have any extra luggage you can keep it in the Hotel cloakroom.
  • Excess Weight: Baggage weight is allowed as per the group’s total body weight. In case the body weight of the group exceeds the allowable limit of 450kg then luggage will be carried by road at an additional cost of Rs. 60,000/- which will be equally shared by all passengers traveling in that chopper. At any cost, we won’t allow passengers to take more luggage. This is the standard safety rule for Aviation. In view of our helicopters’ limited weight-carrying capacity, we reserve the right to shuffle passengers between helicopters to manage the right weight for safe flying in the hills. Therefore, passengers traveling together may not be accommodated in the same helicopter flight.
  • Arrival date: Our Chardham Yatra by Helicopter Tour is booked departure date-wise. However, passengers have to arrive in Dehradun one day prior to the departure date. Dehradun A complimentary night stay which is provided on the arrival date makes our package a 5-night/6Days tour. The actual flying commences on day 02 of the tour.
  • Seating Capacity: The maximum seating capacity for our helicopters is 06 passengers + 01 Crew.
  • Infants: Infants below 2 years or 12kg are accommodated free of charge. For verification of the age of the child, ID proof/birth certificate of the child will be checked.
  • Bad weather and force majeure disclaimer: In case the Chardham Yatra is delayed due to bad weather or any other unforeseen reasons, the Journey will be conducted on the next available date. The company has the right to change the itinerary in the event of adverse weather conditions or any unforeseen circumstances which is beyond our control. Flying in hills is subject to bad weather, and many Force Majeure factors like delayed Air Traffic Clearances/Permissions, VVIP movements, valley flying by Indian Air Force (NOTAM), sudden occurrence of technical snag in aircraft, illness of flying crew or late reporting of the passengers at the helipads, among others. Therefore, passengers must be prepared to face any eventuality and inconvenience in case of such scenarios. The customer has to bear the proportionate tour cost in case of extended stay or traveling due to any unforeseen reason. The company will not be responsible for any change in the itinerary due to natural calamity or unforeseen reasons.
  • Fitness: All pilgrims should be physically fit. It is better to do some jogging and other light exercise as you prepare for this journey.
  • Temperature: In these locations, the temperature falls to 2 degrees Celsius or less at night. Therefore, pilgrims are advised to carry woolen clothes.
  • Photography: Still cameras / Portable video cameras are allowed in Himalayan ranges but not inside the temple. Please do not attempt to take pictures inside the temples.
  • Assistance: Vaayu Aviation has its own crew at all the Dhams. For any guidance or assistance, passengers are free to reach out to them.
  • Mobile Network: Network connectivity at Harsil & Badrinath is very poor. BSNL & Jio are the main telecom services that work in these regions mostly, but not always. However, our staff shall be with the passengers for assistance at all times.

Carriage By Air Act, 1972:The carriage is subject to LIH Services regulations relating to the conditions of Non-International Carriage (Passenger and Baggage) framed by The Carriage by Air Act, 1972 and Notification regarding the application of the carriage which is non-international. The liability of the company for damage sustained in the event of the death or wounding of a passenger or any other bodily injury suffered by the passenger or by his registered baggage during carriage by air will be governed by the provisions of sections 4,5,6 and the rules contained in the Second Schedule of Carriage by Air Act 1972 with certain exceptions, adaptations, modifications, etc. as notified in the Govt. of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation Notification and as amended from time to time.

General Information

  • All temples in the Chardham sector are located at high altitudes, therefore passengers are advised to carry medication during travel. Also, they are advised to carry heavy woolen clothing with them, because, during evenings & nights, the temperature can drop drastically.
  • Kedarnath temple has three base camps i.e., Phata / Guptkashi / Sersi. In the case of big groups, flying in different helicopters may land at different base camps on different helipads. We have to complete the entire yatra as per the group in the same helicopter since each helicopter has different flying timings and permissions. While changing the helicopter at Kedarnath or Guptkashi the waiting time is between 10 mins to 3 hrs. depending on Shuttle slots/weather conditions or technical reasons.
  • Sometimes we may change the property in an emergency (like a landslide on the way to the property, electricity, or any other natural circumstances). We may try to provide other properties of the same or upper category. Due to the high rush, hotels can be changed at any place but we will ensure to provide a similar category accommodation.
  • All passengers will be taken to all the helipads at least 1 hour before the departure time. In this case, sometimes you may have to wait at govt. helipad.
  • One cab will be provided to the group of up to 6pax wherever required. We’ll reserve the entire 6 Seats full charter for a family group of 5 individuals.
